Carmen A. Traywick, MD, FAAD

Dr. Traywick is a graduate of Emory University Medical School in Atlanta, Georgia where she trained with some of the pioneers in the field of cosmetic Dermatology. She completed her Internship and Dermatology Residency at Emory University School of Medicine. She is a board certified Dermatologist who specializes in medical Dermatology, but has a unique talent and passion for non-surgical cosmetic procedures. In addition to Co-Owning LUX~A Medical Spa, Dr. Traywick is the owner of May River Dermatology, a very successful dermatology practice with four offices located in South Carolina and Georgia.

Her goal is to provide an improved, but still very natural, look for each of her patients. Dr. Traywick achieves the very best results by working with each patient to customize an appropriate treatment plan for their specific needs. She utilizes proven treatments and products like Botox®, facial fillers, and other non-invasive techniques. She also helps her patients look younger by recommending amazing medical grade skin care products sold right here at LUX! With her vast knowledge of Dermatology, she helps her patients choose the appropriate cosmetic treatments including lasers, chemical peels, and topical treatments. Her goal is to use her skills and artistic talent to make her patients look their best in the most comfortable way possible. She teaches students Dermatology at two medical schools in South Carolina.

For the ninth year in a row (2011-2019), Dr. Traywick has been awarded “Best Dermatologist” by Bluffton Today readers. In 2015 and 2016, Dr. Traywick was voted “Favorite Dermatologist” by Hilton Head Monthly readers.

When Dr. Traywick is not fulfilling her professional passion, she is at home with her three daughters and husband, Bernie.

Frederick G. Weniger, MD, MBA, FACS

Dr. Weniger, a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon who has over 15 years of experience in his field, is the owner of Weniger Plastic Surgery. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Notre Dame with an undergraduate degree in biochemistry. Dr. Weniger then graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he also completed his 6 year plastic surgery residency. He received his MBA, Magna Cum Laude, from The University of Pittsburgh as well.

Dr. Weniger has published several articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has spoken at many meetings nationally and internationally. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Bluffton Today readers have awarded Dr. Weniger the honor of “Best Plastic Surgeon” every year since the creation of the award in 2009.

When Dr. Weniger is not serving the community with their cosmetic needs, you can often find him outside on the boat with his beautiful wife, Jennifer, or watching one of his three children’s sports teams.

Elizabeth P. Appling, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Elizabeth Appling is a graduate of Chamberlain University’s Family Nurse Practitioner Program in Chicago, IL and is nationally certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Elizabeth brings 20+ years of nursing experience to Lux where she has used her experience to develop a deeper understanding of patients’ overall needs and desires to feel and look their best. Prior to entering the field of medical aesthetics, she has a strong neonatal intensive care and primary care background where attention to detail was a must. Elizabeth also has a strong background in health and wellness and believes beauty has many angles.

Elizabeth began her career in aesthetics in 2019 where she was trained and certified by the Aesthetic Medical Educators in neuromodulators and dermal fillers. Elizabeth loves using a variety of modalities to enhance the natural beauty her clients already possess. She believes that developing a trusting relationship with her patients is key to understanding their needs and meeting their personalized aesthetic goals. Elizabeth always enjoys learning and continues to expand her medical skin care and aesthetic knowledge through continuing education, training courses, conferences as well as on hands training with Board Certified Dermatologist, Carmen A. Traywick, MD and Board Certified Dermatologist, Frederick G. Weniger, MD.

Elizabeth is a Kentucky native and just recently moved to Hilton Head Island and is looking forward to enjoying all the community has to offer, as well as giving back to her community through participation in local events. With a passion for health and wellness, the Hilton Head and Bluffton areas boast opportunities to focus on the support of mind, body, and spirit.

Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenagers. She enjoys to kayak, bike, cook and being on the beach!

Kylie D. Gratton, APRN, FNP-BC

Kylie Gratton is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Kylie has worked as a registered nurse, working in both mental health and concierge family medicine prior to her transition to becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. Kylie always aspired to be a Nurse Practitioner, and graduated from Chamberlain College of Nursing with her Masters of Nursing with a specialty as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Kylie is certified by both the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Kylie’s career as a NP started in emergent care, where dermatological cases created an increased enthusiasm for dermatology and aesthetic procedures.

Kylie has received advanced, one-on-one training with both Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon Frederick G. Weniger, MD of Weniger Plastic Surgery, and Board Certified Dermatologist Carmen A. Traywick, MD of May River Dermatology. Kylie has also attended Botox training and Dermal Filler training held by the Aesthetic Medical Educators Training association. Kylie has a passion for health, wellness and beauty, leading her to the love of aesthetics.

At LUX ~ A Medical Spa Kylie specializes in Botox and Restylane Injections; with appointments available in both Bluffton, SC and Hilton Head, SC. Kylie offers full face rejuvenation through Sciton Light Therapies, Hydrafacials, Skin Pen Microneedling, and Advanced Lumen Chemical Peels. Kylie also offers body sculpting treatments through CoolSculpting and Cellulute injection treatment with QWO. the only treatment FDA-cleared to eliminate unwanted fat in all areas of the body.

Kylie looks forward to providing all patients with the opportunity to both look and feel their best. As a Nurse Practitioner, Kylie is dedicated to improving each patient's confidence and personal livelihood all while building relationships as they return to receive new or maintenance procedures.

Originally, Kylie is from Florida, but has been in Beaufort, South Carolina for over 23 years. During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running, exercising and attending Crossfit classes. Kylie also has a passion for comedy. During college football season, Kylie will be in orange and blue cheering on the Florida Gators.

Erin Hutcheson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Erin Hutcheson, FNP-C earned her Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Georgia Southern University where she was also awarded the MSN Outstanding Family Nurse Practitioner Student Nursing Award. She holds her National Certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Erin brings over 7 years of nursing experience to LUX! She began her career in aesthetics in 2014 when she developed a love and passion for delivering beautiful, youthful, and natural results through aesthetic injections and facial rejuvenation. Additionally, she has over 2 years of experience in receiving and providing training and support to medical providers in multiple modalities of aesthetic treatments (Laser Hair Removal, Coolsculpting, Ultherapy, BBL, and Injectables).

Erin attends local and national continuing education courses to ensure she provides the most current aesthetic treatments. She attended the P.A.L.E.T.T.E (Progressive Aesthetic Learning Essential To Technical Expertise) Specialty Focus Workshop: Rejuvenating the Lower Face-Lips to Neck as well as the Coolsculpting University at the Zeltiq Training Center. Additionally, she attended an advanced aesthetic injectable training, where she learned neuromodulator techniques and Julie Horne, RN’s world renowned signature ‘lip treatments.’

Erin believes “developing a trusting relationship is the basis of patient care” and that self-confidence is an important component of overall health and well-being. She prides herself on listening to patients’ concerns and developing comprehensive aesthetic care plans to address the multifactorial aspects of facial rejuvenation.

Bernie R. Traywick, CEO

Bernie is the CEO for LUX~A Medical Spa. In this role Mr. Traywick oversees all financial and operational aspects of the medical spa.

Prior to this current role, Mr. Traywick served as Business Manager and Management Engineer for Perioperative Services at Emory Healthcare. He earned his Masters in Business Administration from Emory University and his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech.

Jasmine L. Alderson, Spa Director

Jasmine oversees the operation of our Bluffton Office as well as our new Hilton Head Office location in Shelter Cove! She was recruited from Chapel Hill, NC to open LUX 9 years ago and has over 16 years experience in the cosmetic industry. Jasmine received her B.A. from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and has worked with big names such as Clinique, Laura Mercier, and Nordstrom. Jasmine enjoys the Low Country living with her husband, Zack, their young daughters, and their two furry friends.

Gwyn M. Haertel, Marketing Coordinator

Gwyn does the marketing in both LUX locations. She was born and raised in Millburn, New Jersey and became a Lux Lady in May of 2021! Gwyn fell in love with Hilton Head Island at an early age and made the big move to South Carolina in September, 2020. Gwyn graduated from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA in 2019 with her degree in Business and Marketing. During college, she wrote for her University Newspaper, volunteered teaching art classes to children with Cerebral Palsy, and performed for her local radio station music festivals. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, going to the beach, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

A fun fact about Gwyn: she is a singer songwriter! She plays the acoustic guitar, piano and ukulele.

Valentina L. Martinez Torres, Bluffton Team Manager

Valentina Martinez joined the LUX Ladies in early 2015, and is the first smiling face to greet you at Lux~A Medical Spa. Valentina possesses agreeableness, strong communication skills, and a calm and pleasant appearance. She strives for excellence in customer service and will be there to answer any questions you may have before and after your visit.

A few fun facts about Valentina: She is fluent in Spanish and English. Was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and moved to the Low Country at the age of five. She loves spending time with friends and family, traveling, and eating sushi. Valentina believes that each and every client deserves to look and feel their very best!

Taylor K. Harter, Shelter Cove Team Manager

Taylor grew up in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She moved to Bluffton in 2015 after attending the University of South Carolina. Shortly after, she followed her love for skincare and makeup while working as a Beauty Advisor for Estee Lauder. She joined the LUX Ladies team in May 2018, where she has been able to follow her passion for skincare and superior customer service. In her free time Taylor enjoys spending time on the boat with her Husband, Andrew and their dogs Missy and Magnolia!

Denise L. Casoria, Medical Assistant

Denise grew up in Maine and recently moved to South Carolina. She worked as a nurse assistant for 14 years as well as a cosmetologist and a photographer! Denise is a passionate and creative person and loves to express herself through creating artwork and cooking. She and her boyfriend just rescued a puppy from the shelter and named him Romeo. She is a grandmother of 3 beautiful grandsons!

Emeree L. Putich, Microblading Specialist / Medical Assistant

Emeree is a Licensed Aesthetician raised in Bluffton, SC. After moving to Utah in 2019 to complete her 1200 hr Esthetics training she also got 2x certified in microblading PMU. Emeree enjoys anything with beauty and caring for her skin. She especially loves doing her own eyebrows and baking sweet treats with her 3 year old daughter Penelope.

Rachel C. Winn, Patient Concierge / Medical Assistant

Rachel is from the LowCountry of South Carolina. She grew up in Hampton County where she currently resides with her husband, Jonathan, and son, Zane. Rachel is also a dog-mom to Dixie, Gretel, Nelly, and Fazo. She graduated from Wade Hampton High School and then studied nursing at Florence-Darlington Technical College. Rachel spent most of her life acting in local theater productions, serving as Miss Coastal Empire, competing in the Miss South Carolina pageant, and helping run her family’s concession business. Her pageantry experience and diabetic diagnosis at 20 years of age sparked a passion for beauty, skincare, and wellness. Rachel loves designing jewelry and creating locally inspired home decor. Rachel became a LUX Lady in 2020 to help her achieve her new aspiration of becoming a South Carolina Licensed Aesthetician.”

Bridget E. Murphy, Patient Concierge

Bridget was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and moved to Bluffton at a young age. Bridget graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of South Carolina Beaufort in 2020. During her free time, Bridget enjoys keeping up with the latest trends, binge-watching reality TV, spending time at the beach, and hanging out with her cat, Lizzie. Outside of Lux, she models with a modeling agency based out of Atlanta and has been featured in a few local and Atlanta-based magazines. After becoming a LUX Lady in early 2022, Bridget strives to assure that every patient has a warm and welcoming experience while checking in at the front desk at both our Bluffton and Hilton Head Island locations.

Selena E. Jenkins, Medical Assistant

Selena was born and raised in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She moved to Beaufort, South Carolina in June of 2021. She graduated from Cloudcroft High School and then went on to study nursing at New Mexico State University. Selena began her career here at LUX as a Patient Concierge in March 2022 and quickly transitioned into her role as a Medical Assistant. In her free time, she spends a lot of time traveling! She is also a dog mom to Lucifer and Nova. Here at LUX, she strives to help patients feel comfortable and confident!
